I LOVE teenagers!!
Yes, you read that correctly. My two oldest are (almost) 17& 18 years old. Are they moody? Of course! Are they hormonal? Duh! Do they make stupid decisions? Most definitely! However, I’ll take the teenage years any day over the toddler years!
I love watching them blossom into adulthood. I love the way they talk with me for hours at a time. I love how they can drive themselves to their activities. I love watching them succeed in their jobs, school, sports and friends.
The hardest part for me, though, is watching them develop their “own” faith, belief and trust in God. Free will is a wonderful gift God has given us! But, as a parent…I want them to develop the same trust and belief in God that I have. I can’t force it, though. It will be best if they develop it on their own. I have done my job (and continue to do so). From the time they were babes, I read to them about God, talked about God, prayed with them, read the Bible with them, helped them memorize verses. Now, it is time for ME to trust.
Heavenly Father, I give you my children. I pray that you guide them always towards the righteous and humble path. I pray that you continually watch over them and protect them from evil. Please provide them with Christian friends and give them the courage to stand up for You. From the depths of my soul, I thank you for blessing me with them! In Jesus’s name…..amen.
